PPG DURANAR® liquid coatings were among the first high-performance polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) coatings for aluminum extrusions and remain one of the world's most specified architectural metal coatings today. This product supplies the DURANAR system in Black Licorice. DURANAR coating systems are formulated with 70% PVDF combined with acrylic resins and durable pigments for exceptional, time-tested resistance to chalking, fading, chipping, peeling, dirt and staining. At a minimum, a DURANAR coating system consists of a corrosion-inhibitive primer and a durable fluoropolymer color coat; three-coat systems add a clearcoat for further corrosion, weatherability and chemical resistance and are required for metallic and exotic colors. Applied by an approved applicator, DURANAR coatings demonstrate exceptional resistance to color fade, acid rain, ultraviolet rays, chipping and peeling, meeting and often exceeding FGIA/AAMA 2605 — the industry benchmark for coatings on aluminum building products. Typical uses include storefronts, curtainwalls and window walls, window and door systems, louvres, plate aluminum and monumental applications.
